Franklin Community Doula Project

The Green River Doula Network is excited to be in the beginning stages of the formation of the Franklin Community Doula Project (FCDP). This project is a volunteer, community-based doula project serving pregnant women in Franklin County.

The FCDP partners income-eligible women with volunteer doulas during their second or third trimester of pregnancy through birth and the early postpartum period. Doulas work with all laboring women and are trained to involve partners and other key support people in supporting women through labor, birth and the early postpartum. Having a doula present at birth increases levels of satisfaction with birth experiences, and studies show that doula support results in fewer medical interventions.
