Volunteer Doulas
Based on the belief that any woman who wants a doula deserves
one, the GRDN maintains a list of doulas who offer their
services at no charge. For some experienced doulas, volunteering
is a way to serve the community. For some newer doulas,
it's an opportunity to gain experience when first getting
started.
For all these doulas, the value of a caring presence for
a birthing woman goes beyond her ability to pay. Any pregnant
woman who feels she would benefit by a doula's presence
but cannot afford to pay is invited to contact anyone on
this list.
Confidential inquiries can be made by e-mail to
, chair of the Green River Doula Network.
Members of the Green River Doula Network are also in the
process of forming a volunteer doula network to serve the
clients of Baystate Midwifery Associates at Baystate Medical
Center. Interested doulas who would be willing to commit
to 1-2 on-call days per month should contact
, or join our Google Groups mailing list (below). You need
not be a certified or experienced doula to volunteer.
